Open City Documentary Festival creates an open space to nurture and champion the art of creative documentary and non-fiction filmmakers.’

The 2018 Festival will take place from 4-9 September at venues across London.


PLATFORM is a new mentoring, development and small bursary scheme open to emerging writers based in London. Working with an assigned mentor from the Spread the Word Associate Writer cohort, seven emerging writers who don’t have an agent and/ or not under contract for publication will receive support to help make their literary idea a reality.

PLATFORM is made possible through the funding of Cockayne Grants for the Arts and The London Community Foundation. Applications by 5:00pmMonday 2 October 2017.

Entry level job: Arts or Creative industries?

Take a look at STEP – a twelve month paid internship where you will be paired with two gap_leapeast London creative organisations to gain experience in diverse areas of the industry. If successful you will undertake two six month internships.

The basics: you will need to be:

  • Resident in one of these East London boroughs: Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Newham and Waltham Forest.
  • 18-30 year olds
  • Ambitious to work in the arts and creative industries
