Find Civil Service vacancies by government department, executive agencies and certain non-departmental public bodies.
The European Fast Stream is for graduates who are planning to apply for the European Concours – the main recruitment competition to enter the European institutions – and, if successful, become permanent EU civil servants. While working as a UK civil servant in order to strengthen your chances of passing the Concours you would undertake EU policy work in departments, language training in French or German, EU related training and a 5 month secondment (NEPT) to the European Commission. The scheme will open in September 2011.
The Concours is held annually but other specialist competitions are held throughout the year (eg Lawyers, Economists) that you may apply for if you have the relevant qualifications/experience.
Recruitment is at various grades. Applicants must apply in one of these six fields: European Public Administration, Economics, Law, Finance, Audit or Statistics. The selection process consists of two stages: 1) online tests in verbal, numerical & abstract reasoning and a situational judgement test; 2) a full day assessment centre.
Applicants must have a good command of French or German (at least to A level standard), as the situational judgement test and the assessment centre will be taken in their second language. Find out more at http://europa.eu/epso/index_en.htm.
